Nevada Theatre Lighting system specifications
System Engineer D.R. Chris Christensen
Update 03/18/2002
The lighting system in the Nevada Theatre is owned by the Nevada Theatre Commission. A portion of the lighting equipment is owned by The Foothill Theatre Company..
FWIW: Building has 800 amp DELTA three phase service. That's two 120 and one 208 phase leads (with respect to neutral).
Specifics, dimmer and control:
The lighting system controller is a NSI MC24/48. There are 72 ea. 2.4 kW dimmers.
Specifics, grid configuration:
The grid is constructed with 1 1/2" steel pipe. the grid is in a pattern that is seven (7) positions deep oriented stage left/right and is crossed with 6 positions oriented up stage/down stage. NOTE: there are no electrical circuits attached to the grid.
The grid is positioned 22 feet above the stage deck.
Specifics, electrical connections:
The electrical system has 48 circuits located in several positions. The connections are connectorized with Stage Pin plugs as well as twist lock sockets (noted below).
5 circuits in the AP (first beam) twist lock sockets *.
8 circuits at each box boom. Twist lock sockets * .
8 circuits located over the first electric position of the grid. Stage pin on pigtails.
4 circuits located on the off stage walls at the third electric positions of the grid. Stage pin on pigtails.
7 circuits located in "the Attic" a position that us up stage and over the 6th electric position of the grid. Twist lock sockets *.
There are 4 floor pockets. All FP's are located on the off stage edge of the stage deck. The two upstage FP's contain 3 circuits paralleled across the stage. The down stage FP's have three separate circuits each. Each FP has a utility outlet, duplex Edison connection.
There is a good selection of cable, adapters and 2-fer's that meet the needs of most designs.
There are as many as 12 home run cables located on the grid.
* Twist Lock sockets- There is a quantity of stage pin to TL adapters available to accommodate connections of lighting equipment into these positions.
NOTE: It is essential that Lighting Designers submit designs well in advance of the hang date so that the Master Electrician can prepare for the hang.
